We all have the desire for happiness. Sometimes we get so busy with life that before long we feel like it has passed us by. It’s High School graduation and I just received an announcement from one of my good friend’s son. On the top of the announcement read, “The best is yet to come.” I wanted to cry when I read it. So, why was it so touching?
In December his father passed away from cancer. At the funeral one of the speakers told of a lady that had served in many different positions in her church. She had been to many activities throughout her life. She always told people to hold onto their forks because the best was yet to come. After telling this story the speaker looked directly at this little family and assured them that the best was yet to come. They would see each other again and it would be even more grand and glorious than the time they had spent together here in mortality.
I was so touched by this story that I wanted to do a little something for their family. I made this wreath as a reminder of this special memory.
What a tribute to his father to put this same saying on his graduation announcement. I know his son plans on living his life to the fullest and making his dad proud. The best is truly yet to come for him!
I think this is a great attitude to have no matter what you are dealing with. We are constantly finishing a chapter in the book of our lives and beginning a new one. If we always have the attitude that the best is yet to come, our lives will be so much richer.
Summer just started and I have new opportunities around the corner. I just finished another year working at the elementary school for this year. Since I get the summer off it gives me the opportunity to spend time with my kids, catch up on things, and do some things I want to do.
I have been reading about happiness and how important it is to do things that bring us pleasure. It appears that being in a state of happiness not only feels good, but our bodies actually make feel good hormones, the same way our bodies produce cortisol when we are stressed. When we have an abundance of cortisol it makes it harder to lose weight. Those feel good hormones can actually put us in a state where it is easier for our bodies to let go of the weight. I can’t wait for that to happen!
So, three cheers for summer. Let’s get out there and have some fun, and prepare for a healthy dose of those feel good hormones. Don’t forget, the best is yet to come!
Let’s do this together! We’ve got this!
